MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Must be able to use appropriate software programs, such as the work order system, as needed.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

JOB GOAL

Ensure classrooms, bathrooms, offices, cafeterias, gyms, athletic areas and common areas in the school are prepared for each school day. Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform general, routine custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, and restocking paper and soap supplies.
  • Move furniture as needed to clean each area as required.
  • As scheduled and required, operate an auto-scrubber on floors.
  • Clean glass in mirrors, windows and doors on a regular basis. Dust all classroom areas as required.
  • Empty trash receptacles, replace trashcan liners and dispose of trash in dumpsters.
  • Clean and disinfect touch surfaces as required.
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers as required.
  • Restock paper towels and toilet paper as needed.
  • If assigned to lunchroom duty, clean and disinfect all student touch surfaces as required to protect student’s health. Pick up debris, sweep, spot mot and mop as required to keep floor clean, empty and maintain trashcans and other duties assigned.
  • Perform cleaning functions specific to seasonal or project requirements as needed.
  • Assist or perform minor building maintenance, such as replacing light bulbs, moving furniture between classrooms, snow removal, assist with placing technology or other items in classrooms and the building, touch up painting, replace light bulbs and air filters, and similar activities as requested by the building leader.
  • Report needs and concerns to appropriate staff, which may include submitting or recommending work orders for non-routine maintenance concerns.
  • All other duties assigned by supervisor.

Lead Technician – Will have the same responsibilities as a cleaning technician with the added responsibility of inspecting other technicians' work area to assure that the work is completed in accordance with protocols. The lead technician will report to the head custodian and will be supervised by the custodial coordinator.

Floor Technician – Will have the same responsibilities as a cleaning technician with added responsibility for completing floor care projects during the school year and summer cleanup. The floor technician will have knowledge of stripping, waxing, burnishing and caring for vinyl composition tile (VCT) floor and will have knowledge of how to clean luxury vinyl tile (LVT) and carpet.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This job may require lifting objects weighing up to 75 lbs., with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are as follows:

  • Ability to visualize projects prior to construction based upon documents, drawings, and verbal information.
  • Verbal - Ability to understand meanings of words and the ideas associated with them.
  • Numerical - Ability to perform simple arithmetic operations quickly and accurately.
  • Manual Dexterity - Ability to move the hands easily and manipulate small objects with the fingers. Ability to access areas of construction.
  • Form Perception - To make visual comparisons and discriminations and see slight differences in shapes and shadings of figures.
  • Color Discrimination - Ability to perceive or recognize similarities or differences in colors or shades or other values of the same color.


WORK CONDITIONS

Medium to high degree of discomfort due to exposure to temperature, fumes, dirt, dust, noise, and cleaning chemicals.


GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Full time employment of up to 40 hours per week with some second shift work as required to supervise and manage the after-hour events.

Part-time work week under thirty (30) hours with no benefits may be available as approved.
